NAAC Accredited B** Grade (CGPA 2.90) UGC RecognizedBirjhora Mahavidyalaya, a co-educational college, was established in 1986 to fulfill the long-felt need of the locality. Initially started by the "Birjhora Mahavidyalaya Nirman Committee" headed by Sri P.B. Choudhury, MLA, the college was taken over by the State Government under the deficit Grant-in-Aids system on January 1st, 1990, and provincialized in December 2005.
A historic milestone was achieved on March 13, 2026, when the Government of Assam designated Birjhora Mahavidyalaya as a Constituent College of the newly formed Bongaigaon University (formerly Bongaigaon College). Encompassing a sprawling 50-bigha campus, it now proudly serves as the dedicated Science Campus of the university, opening doors to both Undergraduate (B.Sc.) and Postgraduate (M.Sc.) programs.
Youth empowerment through access to education, particularly higher education, inculcating a scientific spirit and traditional human values enabling them to share in purposeful societal needs.
Away from the din and noise of Bongaigaon Town, yet only a fifteen minutes’ drive towards the south from the Bongaigaon Railway and Bus stations. The 50-bigha university science campus is surrounded by a picturesque landscape. The entire campus gets covered with lush greenery during all four seasons, presenting a unique atmosphere and an ideal educational environment for students and researchers.
